At just 16 years old, young athlete Gaut has etched his name in history by breaking a 56-year-old Australian record

Australian record at the All-School Athletics Championship in Brisbane. Running the 200-meter race in a blazing 20.04 seconds, Gaut surpassed the legendary Peter Norman's record of 20.06 seconds set in 1968. Norman, a silver medalist at the 1968 Olympics, had held the record for over half a century.

Speaking after his remarkable achievement, Gaut expressed his surprise, saying, "I’ve been chasing this record for a long time, but I didn’t think it would happen this year. I thought it might come next year. I’m just a kid, and I’ve managed to break it!"

This incredible feat comes just a day after Gaut clocked 10.04 seconds in the 100-meter sprint, making him the fourth-fastest sprinter in Australian history. As he prepares to turn 17 later this month, Gaut’s astonishing speed and determination have positioned him as one of the brightest young talents in athletics, drawing comparisons to some of the sport’s all-time greats.
